This Plain Handmade Tibetan Singing Bowl is a traditional hand forged singing bowl made in Nepal from bell bronze. It has a polished finish that highlights the natural colour and character of the metal.
It is the most traditional expression of a singing bowl in our collection, before decorative finishes such as matte, antique or black are applied.
Each bowl is individually handmade using time honoured hammer forging techniques passed through generations of Himalayan artisans.
Choose this bowl if you want:
- a traditional polished bronze singing bowl
- the most natural, unmodified finish
- a reference tone for meditation or sound work
- a simple, classic bowl without decorative treatment
Not ideal if you want:
- a soft matte or low sheen finish (choose our Matte Singing Bowls: https://mindfulstore.com.au/
products/dim-singing-bowl ) - a dark aged appearance (choose our Antique Singing Bowls: https://mindfulstore.com.au/
products/antique-singing-bowl ) - a modern black aesthetic (choose our Black Singing Bowls: https://mindfulstore.com.au/
products/black-singing-bowl )

How it is made
Each bowl is made from bell bronze (approximately 78 per cent copper and 22 per cent tin), melted and cast before being hand shaped in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The metal is formed through a multi stage hammering process where it is repeatedly heated, shaped and refined until it reaches its final bowl form. This includes traditional stages of transformation from raw disc to finished vessel.
In the workshop, multiple artisans contribute to each bowl. One may shape the form, another refines the surface, and another tests the sound.
Before finishing, each bowl is individually struck and played to assess tone clarity and sustain. Only bowls with balanced resonance are selected for final polishing.

How Tibetan singing bowls are made
Sound and character
Each bowl has its own natural tone, shaped by:
- diameter
- wall thickness
- hammering pattern
- bronze composition
- structural refinement during forging
The polished finish does not significantly affect sound. It is primarily a visual presentation of the natural bronze.
Smaller bowls tend to produce brighter higher tones, while larger bowls create deeper resonance and longer sustain.
Who this bowl is for
This bowl is ideal for:
- beginners starting a meditation practice
- practitioners wanting a traditional bronze singing bowl

Choosing your size
