This Matte Handmade Tibetan Singing Bowl has a soft, low-sheen bronze surface designed for people who prefer a calm, understated aesthetic over bright reflective finishes.

The finish reduces visual shine, allowing the focus to stay on sound, vibration and practice rather than appearance. It sits between a polished bowl and an antique-style bowl, offering a balanced, minimal look suited to modern meditation and wellness spaces.

Each bowl is handmade in Nepal using traditional hammer forging techniques passed down through generations of Himalayan artisans.

Choose this bowl if you want:

  • a soft, non-reflective bronze finish
  • a modern, minimal aesthetic
  • a handmade bowl without decorative ageing
  • a neutral look for meditation or wellness spaces

Not ideal if you want:

  • a bright mirror-polished bowl (choose polished)
  • a dark aged antique look (choose antique)

What “matte / dim finish” means

This finish refers to a controlled surface buffing process applied after the bowl has already been fully formed, refined and sound tested.

It is not a coating or paint. It is a refinement of the metal surface itself.

Finish options:

  • Matte (also referred to as dim finish): soft, low-sheen bronze
  • Polished: bright reflective surface
  • Antique: darkened aged patina finish

If you prefer a brighter bowl, view our plain polished singing bowls.
If you prefer a darker aged aesthetic, view our antique singing bowls.

Sound and character

The sound of each bowl is influenced by:

  • size and diameter
  • wall thickness
  • hammering pattern
  • bronze composition
  • final shaping and refinement

The matte finish has minimal effect on tone. The sound is primarily determined by the physical structure of the bowl rather than its surface finish.

Smaller bowls tend to produce brighter higher tones, while larger bowls create deeper resonance and longer sustain.

This bowl is ideal for:

  • meditation practitioners who prefer minimal tools
  • yoga and breathwork spaces with calm visual aesthetics
  • sound healing practitioners seeking neutral, non-reflective bowls
  • customers choosing between polished and antique finishes
